In a sad turn of events, the Lizzie McGuire reboot that created quite a buzz when announced has halted production after filming the first two episodes.
“Lizzie McGuire” creator Terri Minsky is stepping away from her role as showrunner on the upcoming revival of the series for Disney Plus. A new showrunner has not yet been named.
“Fans have a sentimental attachment to ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and high expectations for a new series,” said a Disney spokesperson. “After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.”
Excitement was stirred up when this photo of the cast was posted on Instagram back in October 2019.
And this seems like a new advancement because just two days ago Disney + was making cute little punny posts about the original series on Insta.
Clearly, as a true fan of the show, I am very upset and I can’t believe this is happening. We even got a special video from Hilary Duff and Adam Lamburg (Gordo) on the Disney + Twitter account.
Meanwhile, Hilary Duff is off honeymooning with her new hubby and we haven’t heard anything from the cast yet.
I’m sad that this is happening but have the slightest hope that maybe the show will be even better once they get these initial kinks worked out. But then I’m like geez if the original creator is stepping down, there has got to be some crazy stuff going on behind the scenes and that’s the tea I’m truly interested in.
