Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are taking a step back from royal duties and honestly, it’s not a big surprise. The two released a statement on Instagram detailing their departure from the family. And it makes sense but these two have always gone against the grain.
As much as their relationship is a story of true love, it also feels like a protest to the monarchy. From Meghan being the first drop of diversity the royals have ever seen, to their post-baby interview, these two fight for the right to live their lives in a comfortable fashion. And who can blame them? No royal has been hounded like this since Princess Diana and we all know how that turned out.
For so long they have done their own thing and it’s been taking a toll on their relationship with other members of the royal family, namely Prince William and Kate Middleton.
After months of speculation that there was a rift in his relationship with his brother, Prince Harry put the rumors to rest in an interview when he said, ‘As brothers, you have good days, you have bad days’ but followed it up with ‘I love him dearly’.
Yeah, so it’s obvious that Harry and Meghan are doing things a little differently, because why not? Harry’s the spare heir and now that William has had children, there’s really no need for Harry unless something crazy happens and the 6 people in front of him. Point is, he doesn’t have to be as straight-lined as his brother because realistically he’ll never be king. Geez, that stung a little just typing it.
But it feels like Harry and Meghan are always taking trips on behalf of the Commonwealth. Like that one time they went to Africa and they literally just got back from Toronto.
The current report is that they will begin having conversations with Queen Elizabeth soon to decide how involved they will be moving forward. Their Instagram statement mentioned they would be splitting their time between North America and the U.K. Very vague since North America can be the U.S., Canada, both of which Meghan has close ties. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and most notably filmed her television show, Suits, in Toronto. So they could really end up anywhere only time will tell.
I can’t blame them for wanting to get away from all of the madness England has brought them. The girl needs a mental break so they can be the best possible parents to Archie. I wish them all the best in the future and can I go ahead and put my vote in for them to move to Texas. How funny would it be to run into the royal couple at HEB?
What do you guys think about Harry and Meghan taking a step back from royal life?
