We’ve all had a lot of time on our hands since COVID-19 hit the United States, but not enough time as Taylor Swift. Homegirl is reigniting the drama between her and Kayne West.
To refresh your memory, Taylor claimed that the Kanye phone call released back in 2016 was edited. We heard snippets of Kanye asking for her approval of the lyric in his song Famous where he calls her a b**ch.
Taylor is clearly still be upset over the indecent. I mean, it did happen four years ago. But honestly who can blame her? He completely uprooted her life before.
Where The Bad Blood Began
I remember it like it was yesterday. We were all waiting for Beyoncé’s name to be called for winning ‘Best Female Video’ at the 2009 MTV Music Awards but were surprised when Taylor’s name was called to accept the award. Clearly, a tipsy Kayne felt the same because he wandered up to the stage and uttered the infamous “imma let you finish” line and well the rest is history.
He ruined that very big moment for Taylor back in 2009 and 7 years later, after they had seemingly made up, their relationship was severed yet again.
You’ll remember, in his song Famous from his 2016 Album The Life of Pablo, Kanye calls Taylor out saying “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b**ch famous”
Taylor shared in a 2016 Billboard interview that Kanye never shared any details about her approval of the lyric, but only asked to release the song on her Twitter page. She reportedly told Kanye to be cautious about releasing the song.
Mr. West replied to this statement via Twitter saying, “3rd thing I called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessing”
Apparently not Kanye.
Here’s What Kim Had To Say
Kim defended her man in a GQ interview later that year calling Taylor a liar and saying that Taylor did, in fact, approve the lyric and had a phone conversation to prove it.
She totally approved that,” Kim says. “She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t. I swear, my husband gets so much shit for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved.”
At this point, I feel like these two would know better than to get approval for a song over the phone. If they’re gonna do business it needs to be in person and very specific about the intentions. Plus everyone knows better than to say things over the phone. Cause you never know when that recording could be used as a Drake intro, right?
Kim leaked a part of the phone conversation which was cute BUT recently the real, unedited version was released to the public. In the video, you hear Taylor and Kanye having a discussion about the lyrics.
Kanye tells Taylor that he doesn’t want to make music that makes people feel bad, to which Taylor responds, “Umm, yeah I mean go with whatever line you think is better,” Swift responds. “It’s obviously very tongue in cheek either way. And I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice.”
Taylor Is Not Over It!
Fast forward four years later, Taylor reignites the old flame, via Instagram saying “Instead of answering those who are asking how I feel about the video footage that leaked, proving that I was telling the truth the whole time about *that call* (you know, the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family, and fans through hell for 4 years)… SWIPE UP to see what really matters.”
Taylor decided not to play into the questions about the call and instead used this opportunity to spread awareness about food shortages caused by COVID-19.
“The World Health Organisation and Feeding America are some of the organisations I’ve been donating to,” she wrote.”If you have the ability to, please join me in donating during this crisis. Swipe up.”
Kim responded to Taylor’s post calling her “self-serving” And even though she used her platform for good honestly, I can see where Kim is coming from. Bad timing Taylor.
Taylor’s publicist, Tree Paine swooped in to save her sarcastically refuting Kim’s tweets saying, “Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single “Famous” on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message,” she wrote.
“Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that b**ch famous.'”
I’m Taylor’s publicist and this is my UNEDITED original statement. Btw, when you take parts out, that’s editing.

Taylor and Kanye’s relationship has been a rollercoaster. One minute they’re cool, the next they’re engaging in a Twitter war.
Kayne hasn’t spoken yet about the incident, but Kim, well, she had something to say.
“This will be the last time I speak on this because honestly, nobody cares,” said Kim via Twitter.
“Sorry to bore you all with this. I know you are all dealing with more serious and important matters”

Sorry to bore you all with this. I know you are all dealing with more serious and important matters.
Well, I guess that’s the end of that conversation. I wonder what Kanye has against Taylor, but I doubt the two are never ever getting back together after this.
