Labor day weekend is fast coming and what other way to celebrate than to binge movies about the work that you’re not doing that day? The workplace movie genre is one of the most interesting and engaging ones out there. It’s probably because no matter who you are or where you live, going to work is something that literally everyone can relate to, because, well, adulting.

So to celebrate the upcoming long weekend, here are the 7 best Labor day movies.

‘Office Space’The Legendary Workplace Comedy

If you’re stuck in a dead-end, go-nowhere job, then you’re going to absolutely fall in love with the guys from Office Space. With 3 office employees who hate their job, Office Space is a workplace comedy about how they get back at their boss and try to reclaim their lives. The frustration and hopelessness of a desk job is perfectly captured by the movie, while providing hilarious laughs and the most iconic workplace jokes in pop culture history.

‘Horrible Bosses’ – An Outrageous Comedy About Extreme Workplace Stress

They say that no one quits a job, but more quits their boss. And that’s exactly the case in Horrible Bosses. A group of friends who are being harassed by their bosses in various, outrageous ways, hatch a plan to kill them. A plan that, obviously, goes horribly awry. The premise is crazy enough to be hilarious, with some unlikely performances from amazing stars like Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston.

‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’ – Drugs, Rock And Roll And Money In This True Story Drama

Ever been in a job that you love and are good at, but the allure of which leads you to become a drug addict and break the law? No? Well, then The Wolf Of Wall Street is the perfect movie for you to see exactly what happens to people in that situation. It’s one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s best performances in a movie that’s messy, ridiculous, bust-your-gut funny, and totally outrageous. All based on a true story too, making it one of our best Labor day movies. It’s also the movie that gave us the incredible Margot Robbie.

‘Waiting…’ – An R-Rated Comedy About Working In A Restaurant

Waiting… is all about the hilarious and ridiculous adventures of the wait-staff of a sports bar franchise. The underpaid and under-appreciated workers’ lives will make you rethink about being mean to your next server, as we get an inside and comedic look into the lives of these everyday heroes! Starring Justin Long, Waiting… also features an awesome performance from a young Ryan Reynolds.

‘The Intern’ – An Endearing Nancy Meyers Movie About Second Chances

It’s never too late to change jobs and reinvent yourself. That’s basically the premise of The Intern, a movie that has an elderly Robert DeNiro interning for a fashion designer in Anne Hathaway. It’s a sweet and endearing movie about second chances and how the unlikeliest friendships can be rewarding.

‘Disclosure’ – A Dramatic Look At Sexual Harassment In The 90s

Switching gears into a dramatic thriller is Disclosure, a story about sexual harassment in the workplace. That’s right, sexual harassment isn’t just a thing that happened recently with the #MeToo movement, but something that women have been dealing with for decades in every industry. Disclosure puts a different spin on the situation, as this time around, it’s a man who is sexually abused. The movie that’s part thriller and part suspense with great performances all around.

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ – One Of Meryl Streeps Most Iconic Roles

Even when you work your dream job, there’s still the challenge of a totally bitchy boss to put up with. And that’s exactly what happens in The Devil Wears Prada, where Meryl Streep is a ruthless fashion magazine boss who undermines everyone beneath her. How the heroine deals with it and overcomes it, is a treat to watch. It’s also one of Meryl Streep’s most iconic roles, along with Anne Hathaway on the other side of the role she later plays in The Intern.
